Now, I understand why it’s tough not to invite people to your wedding. When I got married, I went a little overboard with inviting and informing people about our wedding day. In fact, we ended up inviting over 60 more guests than we originally planned for! Oh no! It’s important to note that typically, about 75% of the guests you invite to your wedding will attend (and 25% will not). Thankfully, this didn’t put me over budget. But if I had asked myself these five questions, I could have probably avoided the issue entirely and would have had more time to chat with the people I really knew needed to be there, rather than just those I just thought should be there.
- How would you feel if you were not invited to their wedding?
- Would you mind talking to them for 15 minutes on your wedding day?
- Do you know their last name? Don’t you go and check Facebook, now!
- Have you talked to them in the last 6 months?
- If they invited you to dinner next week, would you actually want to go?
Now sit down with your partner and ask each other theses questions to start chipping away at your guest list!
